"First release of Rumrz - What's Hot in Finance" by Dharmesh Shah

Congrats on the launch of Rumrz.

Well outside my domain of expertise, but will be interesting to see how the Web 2.0 model resonates with this particular sector.

Good luck!

"Upgrades and a long future for assembla.com hosting" by KC

I love the site and the excellent work that you have done. However, I am a little hesitant to put any IP on the site. Reason being that there is no clear policy listed about the ownership of the source code and documents etc. being posted. For example, you can clearly say something like:
We do not claim any ownership in any of the content, including any text, source code, data etc. that you submit to your space.

Or you can put another clearly worded policy to that regard.

Thanks,

"When hiring - try before you buy" by Dharmesh Shah

Andy,

Good point on the costs of extended trials in the “try before you buy” model. I would agree that after a week or two, you get diminishing returns in terms of how much additional “actionable data” you get.

In my experience, most of the decisions get made well before the end of the trial period (but its good to have an “outside date” defined by which you are forced to make a decision).

One of the challenges with short trial periods (once again, in my experience), that it’s often difficult to find management bandwidth to actually learn what is needed about the hire. Startup-land can be crazy busy and not all weeks are created equal.

Having said that, great point—and I’m glad at least some people agree with the premise of the original article.

Cheers,
Dharmesh
